But the CX-5 is a crossover that begs to be driven with passion. We spent hours caning it along the curved roads of the Angeles National Forest, and in these instances, the Miata theory of excellent steering and a well-sorted suspension are not only noticeable, but greatly appreciated. Mazda has employed electric power steering assist here, and while a majority of electric steering racks have a tendency to feel artificial and overboosted, the system in the CX-5 is comparatively grand.

Sure, the full-fledged Skyactive experience is the biggest selling point of the CX-5. But remember, this is a Mazda, and Mazda is all about the zoom-zoom. Sounds like the hit the nail on the head with the CX-5.

The Honda Fit has long been a popular choice in the subcompact world. It offers flexible seating, decent styling, reasonable-ish pricing, good fuel economy, good wheels&tyres and respectable performance. It doesn’t excel in any one area, but it’s a pretty balanced competitor. Honda decided to ratchet up the fuel economy part in a big way – by creating a Fit EV.

Similar to the Nissan Leaf, the 2013 Fit EV is full electric – there is no gas engine to be found. Honda expect the EPA to rate the Fit EV for 76 (combined) miles per charge. That’s three miles more than the Leaf is rated, by the way.

2013 Honda Fit Quick Specs

20 kWh Lithium Ion battery pack

92 kW electric motor

Full charge on 240 volts in 3 hours 1

Seating for five.

The Fit EV will launch slowly, in selected markets, just like the Volt and Leaf. The introductory lease special will be about 9 per month, with an unspecific amount down. Buyers will also need to have a 240 volt charger installed, which adds to the setup costs. Fortunately, the chargers are standard, and all current electric cars use the same charger port.

Here’s the problem

Honda plans to produce just 1,100 Fit EV’s. Ever. Perhaps they aren’t sure how to make money on an EV quite yet. I don’t know either, but I know that scale is required. They are going to lose quite a bit of money on this project by keeping the volume so low. Perhaps it’s just a ploy to get their CAFE numbers up.

While we can absolutely see a good reason for buyers to pony up a little extra coin for the EcoBoost 2.0-liter in the Edge, the engine makes more sense to us as a no-cost option in the Explorer. Ford has already employed a similar tactic with the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing buyers to choose between greater fuel efficiency or greater power in the V6 model without asking them to dig any deeper into their bank accounts. Though the Explorer EcoBoost is a solid driver, we simply don’t think the optional engine’s benefits offset its taller price tag and reduced capability.

Four cylinders, one turbo, 240 horses, 4500 pounds, and just 2,000 lbs of towing capacity. That’s the Explorer Ecoboost in a nutshell. Is the extra 3MPG worth the price premiem, given the downsides? I’m leaning towards no, given that there are better choices out there.

A man playing the most important role in Ferrari is his founder Enzo Anselmo Ferrari. He was born in 1898 and died at the age of 90 in 1988.
In 1908, at age 10, his father took Enzo and his brother Alfredo to their first car race in Bologna. Enzo gets impressed by what he sees and subsequently prove this first contact with racing was very important for the further course of the history of Ferrari.

In 1917. Enzo was drafted into the army but was soon “at liberty” after he became seriously ill and needed surgery twice. Enzo gave it time to think about what he really wanted: and it was working with cars. He applied for Fiat, but there were no vacancies. Enzo was at that time of course, entirely ignorant of the future, in which Fiat would play an important role.

Determined to infiltrate the world of cars, Enzo took a job as a test driver for Italo-Argentina coach works, a company specializing in converting light truck chassis. From there he scored a job as a test driver for CMN (Construzioni Meccaniche Nazionali). First, Enzo test driver for production models, but later he would come out as a race driver. Enzo Ferrari was always in the top of the results and find his racing talent will therefore not go unnoticed. The racing team of Alfa Romeo, Alfa Corse in 1920 had Enzo as a head of the racing department.

The Prancing Horse
Although Enzo would remain employed until 1939 as head of the Alfa Romeo racing department, it meant not that his other work were stationary. So he continues racing for Alfa Romeo. Enzo continues to achieve success, although he did not win many races. However, he remains in the top to find. After a race in 1921, he met Count Baracca. His son, Francesco Baracca, was a famous Italian fighter pilot from the First World War. Enzo had great respect for Francesco Baracca and his father, he received a signed photo. Francesco Baracca had a known personal logo, a prancing horse. As Enzo fan of Francesco Baracca, said the Count for his son’s logo to use on cars like Enzo’s helping hand. And so it happened that all of Enzo Ferrari in 1921 drove around with the prancing horse, which was to become world renowned as the brand logo of Ferrari.

The products that Ferrari introduced in late 90s, could count on very much appreciated. Ferrari still reaping the fruits of today: this was the “Gran Turismo” 550 Maranello a successor in the four-seater 612 Scaglietti and 599 GTB Fiorano is currently the top model 620 bhp. Of course everyone knows the Enzo, the successor to the F40 with a monstrous 662 hp. The most popular remains the Ferrari F430 Ferrari for the middle segment of the model range covers. The F430 with a V8 with 490 horsepower, uses many Formula 1 technology and is seen as the best Ferrari ever built. Certainly the F430 Scuderia is streamlined and enhanced as a leader in the sports car world.

If you ever manage to buy one of these, a great addiction to this truly amazing car would be Kuhmo tyres, probably the safest set you could get for reasonable price.

We’d like to thank Miss Sue Lang on this great contribution to our website.

Formula 1 racing is the most important category in motorsport. Through the years, it had several Grand Prix (GP’s) account. Whoever gets the most points, will be world champion. All this is organized by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile).
On the Formula 1 racing there are 11 teams, each with two participants. Such participants feel supported by a huge team of people for things like the technology, tactics, pit stops, and so on. A Formula 1 team will cost the sponsor a lot of money, but also gives them a lot of money because millions of people worldwide to watch.
